if you're new here, considering moving, or have lived in Johnson City your whole life, check out this series: Live in Johnson City, a guide to Johnson City.

If your home could be your favorite place, why not make it everything you are dreaming of? 967 Old Gray Station Road is precisely that. This 30-year-old home was custom-built, created with convenience and splendor in mind, down to every last detail.

When the previous owner first arrived on the property, it was simply beautiful but vacant land. He had a vision and a drive to create the perfect place without sparing or overlooking any detail. He collaborated with the builders every step of the way to turn his dream into reality. Today, this home is inspiring and a work of art. It is truly one of a kind.

When you arrive at the property, a long, private driveway leads you to the Dutch Colonial-style home. It sits perfectly on nearly 6.5 acres of beautifully landscaped property that boasts rolling hills, mature trees, and a charming pond stocked for fishing. If you travel just beyond the pond, there is a small creek running behind the property. Pumping it in the summer months helps to maintain pond levels.

The breathtaking views are paired with multiple decks on various levels, creating easy access points for convenience. The deck to the far left has lowered railings. This allows one to sit comfortably and still overlook the magnificent property.

To the front side of the home, there is a welcoming wrap-around porch. This spot is perfect to sip your morning coffee or share lunch with a friend. The views of the front-yard's landscaping are just as incredible as the backyard.

As you enter the home through a brilliant blue door, you arrive in a two-story foyer. The foyer ceiling design matches the porch ceiling. It also has a barnlike appeal to it, modeled after the many barn-style homes that neighbor the property.

The interior features well-insulated 6" exterior walls to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout every season. Silent floor joists were installed during the initial construction to prevent creaky floors. After 30 years, this proves to be true.

Three heating systems are placed throughout the home on the main level, the master level, and the left-hand side. This helps in maintaining a comfortable atmosphere in the cooler months.

The left-hand side of the home was added on after the initial construction, to create more space for hosting guests comfortably. When you enter this side, you'll notice beautiful, dark exposed beams across the ceiling. The timber came off the property's trees cut to make more room for the additional build-on.

As you continue to explore this room, you'll find a gas log fireplace with a sitting room, an additional kitchen, two large bedrooms, and a full bath. It also features convenient access to one of the many decks.

The master bedroom sits adjacent to the additional space. This beautiful bedroom features a sewn-in rug on top of carpeted flooring. This helps to eliminate potential tripping over the rug or uneven flooring. The master suite also features a cozy gas-log fireplace.

As you enter the master bathroom, you'll quickly notice well-placed storage throughout. Two of the walk-in closets feature automatic lights when opened. To the right-hand side is a spacious dressing room with an additional closet, the perfect place to get ready to take on the day.

The master bathroom continues to boast amenities, including his and her sinks, a jetted whirlpool tub, and a steam shower. The walls have been carefully painted with Zoltan paint to withstand moisture over time. They still look as pristine as the day they were painted.

Beyond the bathroom is an octagon-shaped room tile-lined to match the shape. Previously used for crafting and sewing, it is useful for many different purposes, such as a workout space. This room also features an access point for one of the many decks. As you exit the octagon room, the final room of the master suite tucks behind pocket doors. This room gives more storage and has a stackable washer and dryer, keeping you from toting laundry up and down the stairs.

Beyond the master suite is another charming bedroom. To the side is a door that would appear to be a closet at first glance. Upon opening it, you find a staircase leading you to a secret playroom. This bonus room has a hand-built train set creating a nostalgic feel, somewhat similar to Mr. Roger's neighborhood. This bonus space has a window nook perfect for reading. It also features carpeted floors to help with sound insulation.

Back on the main level, you'll notice a mix of tile and wood flooring throughout the home. The original owner explained, "I put wood floor where wood floor makes sense, and tile where tile makes sense." This creates ease in cleaning and maintaining the home. It is the perfect blend of functional and sophisticated.

The main level also features a cork-walled Study with a brick, wood-burning fireplace. Logs can be stacked just outside one of the windows, allowing you to stay inside while keeping the fireplace burning. Adjacent to the study is a large living room with an incredible view of the backyard. It has convenient access to the five back decks.

Walking through double, beveled lead glass doors, you enter an elegant dining room with tray ceiling and tray lighting. This beautifully designed space is inviting and perfect for hosting dinner parties.

The Main Kitchen boasts plenty of natural light and has a spacious feel. It's lined with an array of cabinets, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and a perfectly organizable pantry. A Breakfast Nook is tucked in the back of the kitchen, overlooking the pond in the backyard.

After exploring the upper and main levels of the home, there is still more to be experienced. Descending another staircase, you will find a fully finished lower level. This level features the fourth fireplace, which is wood-burning and has a built-in fire starter. The main area is complete with a wet bar, rec area, and spacious storage room.

Tucked into the corner for privacy is the sixth bedroom with a full bath. With outdoor access, this allows guests to come with ease.

As you exit the lower level, you walk out onto a brick patio overlooking the magnificent backyard. The backyard features many trees and bushes that bloom to an array of color in the spring.

Beside the patio is the grand deck with a fire pit and pergola. To the side of the deck is a full propane tank from where a heated pool once was. This space is beautiful and the only spot you'll want to be in the warmer months.

The home features two garages. The back garage has gravel-lined access for a lawnmower, gator, or tractor to comfortably pull in. It is the ultimate space to have a mancave or woodworking shop.

The front garage provides a protected area to store vehicles. It also features a bathroom, often used to clean up from working outside before entering into the pristine home.

With six total bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms spread intentionally throughout, it is the perfect home for hosting and entertaining guests comfortably.

Five decks give the opportunity on each level to soak up some sunshine or take in the incredible views. The intentional details implemented throughout make life a little easier, taking away any distraction from feeling fully at home.
