The Gump Addition
The Gump Addition is a historic neighborhood with spacious lots, unique houses, and loads of charm. This picture above is the Gump Farm in 1910, three years after local businessman Harry D. Gump purchased the land. The farm would later be divided to become the Johnson City Country Club (the city's first golf course), the city's first landing strip, and the city's first planned residential subdivision.
The Gump Addition is centered around Hillrise Boulevard, with 120 historic homes in the neighborhood. Today, the Gump Addition is in the center of Johnson City, minutes away from downtown, I-26, and North Johnson City.
The Tree Streets
The Tree Streets has a fascinating history, but it also has an exciting future! The Tree Streets (Maple St, Pine St, Locust St, etc.) stretch from downtown Johnson City to East Tennessee State University. This neighborhood is home to Historic Montrose Court, Tudor-style condominiums built in 1922, and listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. These homes are zoned for South Side elementary school, one of the best schools in our area.
